greentechnica.com – Green tech, news and products that save you some green

kringlecast.com – The venerable Santa Claus podcast for the season

lastwordintech.com – An irreverent tech podcast damn it

mousellaneous.com – A podcast about all things Disney and Mickey Mouse

saturdaysociable.com – Social media for PR, marketing, home, work, family and friends

webdevshow.com – Web development for the beginner

senselessbanter.com – Anything goes BS

homemadeisbest.com – A show about home cooking, recipes and eating clean

fat2fitradio.com – The best weight loss and fitness podcast around

I’ll be soliciting help on these shows. Podcasts are always better with two people. I’m hoping to make them more off the cuff and discovery rather than script. If you see one that you’d like to help with, shoot me a message on Facebook and let me know which you’d be interested in.

Do you use Twitter? I do and have often wondered why someone follows me. I do a bunch of stuff online and post about that on Twitter. I keep up with friends and keep friends informed as to what I’m doing. But a lot of times someone follows me that doesn’t know me, doesn’t care what I’m doing, and is purely looking for a follow to spout their marketing BS. That’s not for me. If the person following me looks interesting, I might follow them back to give what their doing a chance. If not, no big whoop, no follow.

Then there are those individuals that you follow and they reciprocate by following you. Sometimes they quit following and you’re left with wondering, “Why?” Enter Qwitter. It’s a service the plugs into Twitter and sends you an e-mail with the username of a former follower and your latest Tweet. It can only be assumed that they read that latest Tweet and unfollowed.

And just like feedback on Ebay, one unfollow deserves another. What do you think? Why do you follow people on Twitter? Why do you quit following?

How about following me at http://twitter.com/russturley.

They got me. I was sucked into it and all along I was really wondering what exactly I was reading. I’m talking about the Twitter account of Leonard Kendall, Senior Director of Applied Biotechnology. Ingen Bio Corporation – the leading private human pharmaceutical development company in the world. IngenBio started following me a while back and I couldn’t help but reciprocate based on the information on the Twitter account. Plus the picture was kind of freaking me out, which I dug.

I would view tweets as they came in and started to question what I was reading. At first it was tweets like:

Through a single ITC adjuvant, I can strengthen cellular resistance and induce an immediate immune system response!

and

Despite these small obstacles, I am considering Intragen test 40-CFR-05 a partial success.

But soon thereafter, it turned into:

I must destroy all of my work – the risk is too great. I know he will want to test it on humans.

and

I cannot allow them to have this technology. It is far to dangerous in the wrong hands. I created this to heal, not to destroy.

Bells started going off and I was starting to think that I’d been duped. Then last night a tweet with just a TinyURL was posted by IngenBio and I knew for a fact that no. 1, I’d been a sucker and no. 2, I’d enjoyed every bit of it. Here’s the MP3 that was linked to in the tweet.

[display_podcast]

Very cool, but way over the top. I started an investigation of what IngenBio was all about and didn’t have to search long before I found a post at Wikibruce and my search for the truth behind IngenBio came to an end. It turns out it’s a viral marketing campaign for a new graphic novel called Infex that’s making a debut at Comic Con. Check out the Wikibruce link for video and links to other media.

So with the information I have now, I think that I prefer this new reality of a marketing campaign for a graphic novel over a rogue biologist creating killer compounds in some lab. Oh, and the network security is so lax that a researcher is using Twitter to spill the beans on that research. Why did I ever think that was was even remotely real? What a rube!

Also, what a great use of social media to get your project noticed. Kudos.

How annoying are the daily blog posts generated by TwitterTools? Pretty damn annoying. Jason Watts from The History Podcast asked me what I use for these updates. I sent him the link, but thinking about it more, I can’t recommend this tool. For someone that is updating on Twitter all the time, #1, you need to get a job, and B, this is a great tool to get your tweets into your blog and keep it fresh.

However, if you’re a sometime updater like me, all of your better posts, or at least the more interesting posts, get pushed off the front page of the blog.

Not good.

I’m looking for a new tool, or for Alex King to update TwitterTools to create a configurable digest for posts. That might fit my need better if I could pull all the tweets into a weekly digest instead of the annoying daily.

Have you integrated Twitter with your blog? What tool do you use?
