10K Kettlebell Swing Challenge

Fellow podcaster, Tom Jordan, suggested that we do the 10,000 Kettlebell Swing Challenge during the month of September.  What is it? Basically it’s exactly what the name implies. You do 10,000 kettlebell swings during a 30 day period of your choosing. I’ve been using kettlebells as part of my weekly workout routine for a while now, but this is going to be intense. The math works out as 333 swings per day (10,000 / 30) with one more for good measure.

I’ll be chronicling the month here and tracking the number of swings that I’m doing at Kettlebellchallenges.com.   It’s a new site that I’ve been working on.  It’s functional, but will be added upon and updated before and during the challenge.  If you want to track your workouts there, sign-up and start your challenge.

The end game?  To complete the challenge, be in better shape at the end of the month and to fully embrace the kettlebell workout.

    I’d like to join – and I’ve done KB workouts before – but just wondering which particular 333 swings you’re going to be doing each day. I don’t want to injure myself by doing the same muscle group every day – so want to make sure that I’m doing it strategically. I’m hoping you’ll list the moves you do each day and I can just follow along. Is that your plan? Thanks! And keep it up

    I haven’t posted a “plan” per se, but the default for me will just be 333 two arm swings. I’ll find a few different workout routines and post them to the blog (http://kettlebellchallenges.com/blog).

    A couple people expressed concern about doing the same movement over and over again, but I don’t share that concern. Kettlebells workouts are inherently full body, particularly the swings, that I don’t see that as a problem. Proper form is key.
