Posted by: Russ Turley In: Razing Giants

Matthew Ebel is one of my favorite podsafe artists. Scratch that, he’s one of my favorite artists, period. Here’s a video of him performing his song Tennessee Never Cried. Thanks to Chris Penn for the video work.

More Nastalgia

Posted by: Russ Turley In: General| Remember the 80's

Digg is great for that unexpected link. This one is a link to all the great NES games, playable in a browser, that I never could afford when I had my own NES. I had some of the classics, Duck Hunt, MegaMan, Sonic the Hedgehog among others, but nintendo8.com, on this page, 100 [...]

Junior High Dances in the 80’s

Posted by: Russ Turley In: Razing Giants

If you’re mid 30’s like me, this playlist will bring back some great memories. I remember the junior high dance, that one slow dance you’ve been waiting for. You zero in on your target, Michelle Montoya, Kasha Matuzak, Elise Ricci, Pierette Grace, or the one girl that your 14 year old hormones were [...]

Robin Williams
Huey Lewis
Cameron Diaz
Josh Grobin
Meatloaf
Perry Farrell
Joan Jett
Others

It really is too funny for words. [...]

Anti-Gravity Helicopter?

Ladi Dadi, We Likes to Party

Posted by: Russ Turley In: Video

You know you memorized the words. They were etched into your brain as a young child. John Wenger, in junior high, circa 1985, had the lyrics memorized. I bet that now some 23 year later he still remembers them.
Put on your fly green socks and sing along.

Pownce is Down: Does anybody care?

Posted by: Russ Turley In: Django from Scratch

I just updated my Firefox installation to the Beta 3 version. I’ve been using Flock, but when I heard Leo Laporte and one other person talk about how great Firefox 3 is, I had to try it out. Funny enough the last time that I opened Firefox my homepage was set to Pownce. [...]

Templates and the Model API

Posted by: Russ Turley In: Django from Scratch

Chris Pratt commented and sent me in the right direction to find the resolution to getting my template to display the human readable portion of the Choices that are setup in the models.py file. If I’m not explaining that clearly enough, or using the wrong terminology, please forgive me. Here’s the section in [...]
